Our Support

We would like to thank the following organizations that have helped make Shady Oaks Camp successful in enriching the lives of children and adults with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities for the last 62 years.  You or your organization can help too by making a donation, or renting our facilities for a special function.
bullet Every year it costs approximately $300,000 to operate Shady Oaks Camp for an eight week session. This money is put toward the cost of food, entertainment, utilities, and the 1:1 staff. Because the Parents Association is a not for profit organization, a large portion of this money must be raised by the parents.

bullet The parents raise money in several ways including; selling candy and raffle tickets, running a Saturday night bingo game, and working various tag days. If S.O.C had to rely upon these fundraisers alone, it would not be able to open each year. Since its inception in 1947, The Parents Association and S.O.C. have counted on and received generous contributions from many outside sources. Without these kindhearted individuals S.O.C. would not have celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2007.

bullet Because of this, The Parents Association for Cerebral Palsy Children and S.O.C. would like to thank all the companies, businesses, organizations, and individuals who have donated their time and money to S.O.C.

bullet As you can see, many people believe in the goals and philosophy of the Parents Association. The list of people who have helped keep the wonderful program at S.O.C. running for the past 50+ years is too numerous to list. From the parent who has done fundraising for the camp long after their child has passed away, to the church group who helped with cleaning up camp so it could open, Shady Oaks has been blessed with caring and dedicated individuals who have offered support whenever and however they could.

bullet Shady Oaks Camp is always in need of help. Because most of the money raised throughout the year is put toward operating camp, not much is left over for repairs and renovations. As you may imagine 50+ years of Illinois winters have taken there toll on the camp buildings. Many of the dorms are in need of major work.

bulletOn top of all the repairs, the program at Shady Oaks needs to be updated to compete with other camp programs. New adaptive equipment for sports, arts and crafts, and games need to be purchased. All of which cost money.

bullet If you would like more information on our program, please feel free to contact us. S.O.C is always looking for new campers to become part of our family. In addition, If you or someone you know would like to help by providing assistance to Shady Oaks through a donation of time, equipment, supplies, prizes for our annual raffle, or money please contact us.

bullet Every donation is greatly appreciated and none is too small. By becoming involved in the Parents Association, you will discover what many campers, staff, parents and donors have learned. Shady Oaks is a very special place, a home away from home for all who come in contact with it.

THANK YOU!
